It's Summertime in the Okanagan! Finally! I found myself looking for a vacay rental on Air BnB this weekend and picked a couple gorgeous ones for our holiday in the Kootneys. But during this search realized that there is a serious need of better rental property photography! There are some fabulous rental properties with completely open calendars because the photos just aren't doing them justice.
Do you have a mortgage helper, Air BnB property or a VRBO listing in the Okanagan? Are you fully booked? If you are wanting to book more guests, updating your rental listing with current and well done photos is one of the best ways to increase occupancy!
Here are a couple tricks to getting effective shots of your retal property:
Make sure you have both interior and exterior photos of your rental property. Guests want to get a feel of the area, where they will park, if the unit is detached from your home, if they have access to an outdoor area etc.
Let there be light! Make sure all your curtains and shades are open. Let in as much light as possible when taking your photos.
Before you start, remove clutter, distractions (like garbage cans), any personal photos and generally tidy up. Less is more with listing photos.
Take your photos in Landscape (horizontal) format. Photos in search results are shown in landscape, so it's best to take all or most of your shots in this format.
Showcase your unique! If you have any desirable amenities or features on your property, make sure you take a photo of that. Guests love to stay somewhere that's not cookie cutter (that's why they've chosen a guest rental over a hotel chain!)
If you don't want to go it alone and would rather have professional rental property photographs taken, Keylight would love to help you! We have Air BnB & VRBO listing photography packages starting at $300 + gst. Click here to find out more.
We photograph properties in Vernon, Kelowna, Lake Country, Penticton, Oliver & Osoyoos and through out the Okanagan Valley. If you have a listing outside the Okanagan, we love to travel so just send us a message.
Good luck with your rental listing and happy vacay season.
